World Water Day: Microplastics Marine Debris Cleanup

Join Debris Free Oceans, Miami Waterkeeper, PIRG, and Environment Florida for a Microplastic Cleanup at Crandon Park!

Microplastics, tiny pieces of plastic less than 5mm in size, are a major threat to marine life and coastal ecosystems. This is your chance to roll up your sleeves, take action, and learn about the impacts of microplastics while helping remove them from our environment. Join us at Crandon Park and be part of the solution! Together, we can create a cleaner, healthier coastal environment free from the harmful effects of microplastic contamination. Stay tuned to find out how we plan to repurpose the microplastics we collect!

Check out the incredible organizations:

  • Miami Waterkeeper – Miami Waterkeeper protects South Florida’s waters by advocating for resilient solutions grounded in science, rooted in nature, and driven by community.
  • Environment Florida – Environment Florida puts grassroots support behind our research and advocacy for clean air, clean water, clean energy, wildlife and open spaces, and a livable climate.
  • PIRG – PIRG is an advocate for the public interest. We speak out for the public and stand up to special interests on problems that affect the public’s health, safety and wellbeing.
  • DFO – Debris Free Oceans empowers Miami-Dade communities to go zero-waste so all can have access to clean oceans and a healthy environment. Since its inception in 2014, DFO has engaged over 12K volunteers in picking up over 64K pounds of trash, educated more than 14K students about marine debris, hosted more than 500 zero waste events, and prevented the use of more than 2M single use plastics through sustainability consulting.
