Plastic is Scary: Costumes, Cleanup & Kombucha in Miami, FL

Kick off spooky season in Miami with a beach cleanup, Halloween costume swap, and kombucha with DFO & Earth Breeze!

Halloween is fun, but plastic is scary. Did you know there are 20,000 pieces of plastic in the ocean for every person on Earth? Plastics are in our clothes, food, and even our braaaiiins! 🧠🧟

Halloween is also one of the most wasteful holidays of the year. In the U.S., 35 million costumes are thrown away annually, most made of non-recyclable plastics that can last over 500 years.

Join Debris Free Oceans and Earth Breeze at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park for a Halloween celebration that’s good for the planet. Together, we’ll clean up the beach and host a costume swap to give gently-used costumes new life, just in time for spooky season.

What to Expect:

  • 🎃 Exchange gently-used costumes and accessories with others
  • 🌊 Learn zero-waste Halloween tips and help clean up our coastline
  • 🍍 Refresh with locally-brewed Radiate Kombucha
  • 🍴 Enjoy delicious food from Nu Real Food
  • 💙 Music, community, and good vibes at a historic Miami gem
  • 🧺 Giveaways like reusable pints, t-shirts, and laundry detergent sheets
  • ✨ 3 volunteer service hours provided to those who check in
