Through this program, primarily focused on inland neighborhoods in Miami-Dade County following the Miami River, high school students will be trained to provide guidance and support to help businesses to easily and simply reduce their plastic waste. These students will also help host future community cleanups in their neighborhood, so keep your eyes out for more! The program is both a learning opportunity for students to gain skills in business, marketing, and sustainability, and a chance for students and businesses to become more connected with each other, their communities, and the environment. Ultimately, Plastic Free Cities will enroll businesses into the local government business recognition program, Plastic Free 305, with support from local students. We are excited to kick this program off in the vibrant community of Hialeah!
