Miami's Trashiest Singles

Debris Free Oceans invites Miami's singles to be their trashiest selves by picking up Peacock Park!

Hey, South Florida singles, are you a baddie in the streets and a neat freak on the beach? Well, now’s your chance to forget the trash in the apps, bars, and clubs, and join other adventurous, environmentally conscious bachelors and bachelorettes in picking up Miami’s mangroves instead.

Debris Free Oceans, a local non-profit organization dedicated to empowering Miami-Dade communities to go zero waste, knows that Miami’s dating scene is tough. That’s why it’s hosting a Red Flag, Green Flag Capture the Flag game and mangrove cleanup this Saturday, February 8 from 3 PM to 6 PM in Peacock Park, located at 2820 McFarlane Rd, Miami, FL 33133.

Singles will begin the program with a mixer among local food and beverage vendors. They will then separate into two teams and play an altered version of a capture the flag game, where they’ll employ their hard-won expertise in differentiating between potential partners’ red and green flags. Throughout the game, players will then work together to clean up as much trash as possible from Peacock Park’s mangrove forest. The team with the largest haul will win a prize, though all are encouraged to stick around afterward for a thoroughly trashy singles mingle. Feeling trashy but not sporty? You can also sign up as a spectator to come and meet some “green flags.”

“We’re so excited to help our fellow Miamians have fun, foster community, make connections, and give them an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the wellbeing of some of our most important and sensitive natural habitats,” said Caiti Waks, Debris Free Ocean’s Co-Founder and President.

Singles of all ages (21+), genders, and sexual orientations are welcome so long as they’re willing to get the best kind of trashy.
