Come join Debris Free Oceans & With Miss Jill at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park for a fun day of giving back to our community and environment. 🌊✨🧤📙✏️ Grab your friends and family for a day of sun, sand, and service.
We will be meeting at the Main Pavillion at 10:30am. Enter the park through the Virginia Beach Dr entrance. Upon arrival at the park entrance, you can indicate that you are there for the cleanup event to receive complimentary parking 🚗
Before we begin our cleanup, there will be a sensory bin to help our younger participants differentiate between natural materials and trash 🍃🗑️ After a brief introduction and safety briefing, we will be removing microplastics and large debris from our shorelines 🪣
Zero Waste Toy Swap: Let’s teach our little ones sustainability! #DidYouKnow nearly 80% of all toys end up in landfills, incinerators, or the ocean and account for nearly 6% of landfill plastics❓We have the power to change this! Do you have toys that are in good working condition but your children are tired of playing with them? Instead of tossing them out, bring them unwrapped to our treasure chest! 🏴☠️ It might just become another child’s favorite toy 🧸 + your kid will have a chance to pick out their own “new” toy from the chest 🤩
What will be provided? Gloves, pickers, buckets, trash bags, hand sanitizer, sunscreen, bug spray, and water refills will be provided
What to bring? Reusable water bottle (no single-use plastics please!), proper attire for the weather (e.g., dryfit shirt, hat, sunglasses, shorts), plastic-free snacks (e.g., bananas, tangerines), closed-toed shoes are highly recommended, unwrapped toy to exchange
Help us keep our beaches clean and beautiful for everyone to enjoy. Let’s celebrate the start of the school year and show our love for our beaches. “Sea” you there! 🐙
