100+ attendees educated about business certification programs to combat plastic pollution

during a panel ft. our Co-Founder Caiti Waks, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Eileen Higgins, Chief Bay Officer Irela Bague, the City of Miami Beach’s Senior Sustainability Coordinator Alyssia Berthoumieux, & Ocean Conservancy’s Senior Manager for Florida Conservation Daniel Padilla Ochoa.

We had the most amazing time at the Ocean Conservancy’s Shores Forward Summit in August! Our Co-Founder Caiti spoke on a panel about the impact of Plastic-Free business certification programs, and our Program Director Maddie spoke about the past, present, and future of Debris Free Oceans during a “partner spotlight.”

It was great to discuss some of the epic Shores Forward milestones, including the new Circularity Assessment Protocol and Sustainable Events Guidelines in the City of Miami, plus our #PlasticFreeMVP program with City of Miami Beach and the Big Blue & You, during which high school students helped to grow #PlasticFreeMB. We also brainstormed on future ways to unite local government, nonprofit, and academic partners under holistic, impactful projects!
